At the heart of the aks-eir-flow IV mattress replacement system, up to Stage IV, patient weight 40–140 kg, is intermittent pressure relief through an alternating two-chamber system. This regularly relieves pressure on vulnerable areas of the body—an important benefit when prolonged bed rest, limited mobility or existing skin damage place particular demands on pressure ulcer care. A static mode is available for situations where a stable lying surface is preferred.
The removable foam base enhances lying comfort and makes everyday handling easier. The bi-elastic mattress cover is fluid-impermeable, has a wraparound zipper and can be securely fastened using corner loops—practical when changing positions and for daily hygiene. For added safety, visual and audible alarms alert caregivers to pressure loss; a leak reminder reactivates the muted alarm after 10 minutes if the cause persists. In an emergency, the CPR tab allows rapid deflation. The pump unit features a chart on the front to help with pressure adjustment, and the air cells can be replaced individually as needed.
